POWERCHINA has secured multiple contracts from Chilean companies Transelec and CGE and French company Engie, for the expansion of two key substations in Chile.

This is in line with 2024’s decree in Chile, related to the improvement of the country’s electricity transmission system.

The expansion projects, encompassing the G15 and G04 segments, involve the enhancement of a 500kV substation in Antofagasta and a 220kV substation in central-northern Chile, respectively.

The G15 project, which includes subprojects OC01 and OC02 at the Parinas substation, aims to increase the region’s capacity for clean energy transmission.

Meanwhile, the G04 project will upgrade the San Juan and Algarrobal substations to optimise equipment configuration, improving grid stability and operational efficiency.

These initiatives are part of Chile’s wider national grid upgrade plan, orchestrated by the National Electricity Coordinator.

The company previously completed a 500kV transmission and transformation project in the country.

The new projects are expected to bolster grid stability in their respective regions and provide support for the modernisation of Chile’s energy infrastructure, aligning with the country’s energy development objectives.

In addition to these projects, POWERCHINA’s involvement in Chile extends to photovoltaic power stations and grid system design.

An integrated construction group, POWERCHINA offers a range of services, including investment and financing, planning and design, engineering construction, and others, focusing on clean and low-carbon energy, water resources, environmental construction, and infrastructure.

Last month, POWERCHINA entered into an engineering, procurement, and construction contract with Viroque Energy for the development of the Arreaz Photovoltaic Power Station Project in Spain.
