Austrian construction company PORR has secured significant contracts in the railway sector across Europe.

In Poland, a €400m ($465m) project involves extending a high-speed tunnel in Łódź, linked to the country’s central airport initiative.

Railway operator ÖBB is allocating €3.5bn to its Austrian rail network in 2025.

PORR is also involved in other projects, including fitting 33km of the Koralm Tunnel and 27.3km of the Semmering Base Tunnel with its Slab Track Austria system, alongside supplying rail technology.

For the Brenner Base Tunnel, reportedly Austria’s largest construction effort, PORR’s work focuses on the 25.2km Pfons-Brenner section, valued at nearly €1bn.

In Germany, €1.7bn is directed towards rail expansion in 2025. The Stuttgart 21 project, a major urban rail undertaking, features an intricate tunnel network connecting a new underground station to regional and long-distance lines.
