Plan has been submitted to construct the Phase I of a themed leisure scheme off the Golden Mile in Blackpool, the UK.

To develop the £300m Blackpool Central scheme, developer Nikal has partnered with entertainment business Media Invest Entertainment.

This scheme will feature three indoor entertainment centres, a hotel and restaurants.

The indoor theme park will feature a flying theatre, provide immersive virtual reality experiences and a public square that will provide space for live events such as music concerts or sporting events.

Phase I of the scheme includes a 1,300 space for parking cars at multi storey level.

It is set to be constructed by Dutch firm Ballast Needam, which will free up land for future phases of development.

This phase will see restoration of the current heritage buildings to present a lively Heritage Quarter.

Media Invest Entertainment chief executive Norbert Reichart said: “We have taken a major step towards creating one of the UK’s most exciting destinations with this application submission.

“The scheme has a crucial role to play in enhancing Blackpool’s tourism offer and attracting more visitors to the town.”

The development scheme is an important part of the Blackpool Town Deal, which is supported by a government funding of £39.5m.
