Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District (ISD) has broken ground on the new Maintenance | Child Nutrition | Technology | DAEP Campus facility in Texas, the US.

VLK Architects also joined Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD to break ground on the new facility, which is funded by the district’s $178.6m bond in 2021 and its construction figures as the initial priority on the bond projects list.

It will include more than 10,000ft2 of maintenance and custodian storage/warehouse space, a carpentry shop, a grounds equipment repair shop and offices.

The project will feature technology offices, prep rooms, and storage areas as well as the district’s server.

The building will include a district food service warehouse area that comprises a walk-in cooler and freezers, offices, and a test kitchen.

DAEP play areas including an elementary playground and DAEP classrooms for elementary, junior high, and high school students will also be part of the projecy.

The facility will also include other support spaces including break rooms, conference rooms and a multi-purpose training room.

Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD superintendent Brent Jaco said: “The development of this facility has been in the works for almost a year. Breaking ground on this facility is truly an exciting step in fulfilling the plans outlined in the 2021 bond. We couldn’t be more excited to begin work and get our support staff this much-needed state-of-the-art facility!”

Furthermore, other bond projects in the list include Pecos High School Phase 1 (CTE and Science Wing), a 2nd-5th grade elementary campus, a new Pre-K-1st grade Early Childhood Campus, as well as renovations of the existing Austin Elementary into a District Day Care/Adult Learning Center.
