Swedish construction and civil engineering firm Peab has secured a contract worth $36.6m (SEK310m) from Bostads AB Mimer to construct new rental apartments on Öster Mälarstrand in Västerås.

The scope of work under the contract involves construction of 183 new apartments in six buildings.

These new apartments will range from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom apartments.

The buildings will also include a basement with storage space, a bicycle room, community rooms and installation space and attics with a fan room and apartment storage.

Work on the project will also include construction of a two-storey car parking with 385 parking spaces. It will also include an inner courtyard and bicycle room on top of the car park.

Construction work on the project is scheduled to commence in August this year with completion expected in December 2024.

Recently, the construction and civil engineering firm was awarded a $41.37m (SEK350m) contract to build a new swimming pool facility in the Rimner area in Uddevalla.

The new facility will include a 50m pool with ten swimming lanes, a pool for swimming lessons as well as a 25m Swedish Championship standard pool for competitions.

It will also include a children’s pool and a diving pool integrated into the 50m pool.
