Nordic community builder Peab has been selected to undertake a significant construction project at Tingdal School in Åstorp, Sweden.

The contract, awarded by the Åstorp municipality-owned company Björnekulla Fastigheter, is valued at Skr215m ($22.4m).

The project encompasses renovations, extensions, and new construction, covering a total area of 7,500m.²

Peab region manager Olle Olsson said: “This is an important investment for the future and young people in Åstorp. We look forward to contributing our expertise to the project. We consider building schools vital to the community.”

The Tingdal School project is a traditional contract that will commence immediately, with an anticipated completion date set for June 2027.

Of the total project area, 6,000m² will be dedicated to new construction while 1,500m² will focus on renovations and extensions.

The upgraded building will adhere to the Miljöbyggnad 4.0 Silver standard, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.

The project will be registered by Peab in the second quarter of 2025.

Peab boasts a workforce of 13,000 and reported net sales of Skr58bn. The company is headquartered in Förslöv in southern Sweden.

Peab secured another contract last month, worth Skr130m, for a new housing development in Helsingborg, Sweden. This project will feature a multistorey building and is expected to be completed by early 2027.

A month earlier, Peab was chosen by Luleå Municipality to carry out renovation and expansion works at Kungsfågeln High School.

This project involves the demolition of the existing facility and the construction of a new building, with groundwork and expansion included. The completion of the Kungsfågeln High School project is expected by June 2026.
