Swedish construction and civil engineering firm Peab has secured a contract worth $17.92m (SEK124m) from Härryda Vatten och Avfall to construct Hindås’ new waterworks in Sweden.

The new waterworks in Härryda, outside of Gothenburg, is part of the Härryda municipality’s investment to expand the municipal water and wastewater system.

Upon completion, these waterworks will have capacity to deliver 60 liters of drinking water per second and will be connected to other sections of the water supply project that include a high-water reservoir and a raw water pump station with intake and transfer pipelines.

The waterworks will also be connected to new water transfer pipelines which will transport water and wastewater between Landvetter and Hindås.

Construction work on the project is expected to commence in this winter with completion scheduled in the end of 2023.

Härryda Vatten och Avfall managing director Jessica Sténhoff said: “We’re very happy and proud to begin construction on the new waterworks. Our project organization looks forward to a good partnership with Peab, an experienced builder.
