Swedish construction company Peab has secured a contract to build 160 rental apartments in Enköping, Sweden.

The turnkey contract, worth $21.5m (SEK202m), was awarded by Genova Property Group.

Located in Korsängen, the new building will feature apartments with one to five rooms as well as a kitchen with an area ranging between 27 m2 and 94 m2.

All the apartments will have access to the parking as well as elevators and will be designed as per Peab’s NärBo (Live Close) concept.

Apart from the apartments, the structure will feature four premises on the ground floor.

Genova Project Development manager Henrik Raspe said: “Our intention is to try and use land we already own in order to be able to contribute with more sustainable and climate smart homes.

“Our collaboration with Peab is perfectly aligned with this ambition. It creates the foundation for efficient production of quality housing where a sustainable perspective is of particular importance.”

Construction works at the site are expected to begin next month and the occupation is slated to begin in December 2023 and March 2024.

Peab region manager Louise Strömbäck said: “We’re very happy to have been entrusted with this project and look forward to our ongoing collaboration with Genova.

“Being able to contribute to Enköping’s development, especially when it involves our NärBo concept and a lot of climate consideration, means a great deal to us as community builders.”

Peab said that the order will be registered in the first quarter of 2022.
