Sweden-based construction and civil engineering firm Peab has been commissioned to build a school for pre-school and grades 1-9 in Löddeköpinge, Kävlinge Municipality, Scania County, Sweden.

The contract is worth about $34m (SEK290m) and the customer is KKL Fastigheter.

With the project divided into two stages, the first stage, which was contracted in the fall of 2019, entailed designing, planning and calculation.

The second stage consists of the production phase for which a new contract has been signed.

The school comprises four buildings and will be located in the northeastern section of Löddeköpinge.

Measuring a total of 13,000 m2, the school will have three school buildings for 630 students in addition to a gym with two sports halls, which will most probably be accommodated in the fourth.

All of the buildings will be two storeys high, will be supplied by a geothermal plant, and sport solar panels on the roofs, while meeting the prerequisites for Miljöbyggnad Silver.

The buildings will be used not only by the school but also the municipality for community activities.

Peab region manager Bratislav Marjanovic said: “This project is an important investment in the future for residents of Löddeköpinge and we’re proud to contribute with our know-how. The school will be meeting place for both students and personnel as well as the community, and it will contribute to inhabitants’ health and meaningful leisure activities. In other words, it’s a great example of our locally produced community building.”

KKLB MD Mikael Strand said: “We look forward to a good partnership. By investing in Löddeköpinge and Hofterup we are actively contributing to growth in the community. This is right in line with our role as the local Community Builder where we create top modern and inspirational school environments that help the municipality to attract residents and the best competence in education.”

A turnkey contract in partnering, the construction project is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2023.

Order registration of the project will be done in Q2 of 2021.
