
Pacifico Energy KK has commenced construction of a 121MW Sanda Solar Power Plant in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
Juwi Shizen Energy has been appointed as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the solar project.
The project is located on the former site of a golf course, in the city of Sanda.
It uses and boosts existing regulation reservoir and drainage facility to collect storm water as much as possible on the site.
Financing for the solar power project was provided by MUFG Bank and Mitsubishi HC Capital while Baker McKenzie is serving as legal counsel to Pacifico Energy.
Once operational in 2023, the project is estimated to generate around 143 million kWh of power per year while offsetting approximately115,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions for 18 years.

The latest project is the company’s fifteenth solar power plant in Japan.
Including this plant, Pacifico Energy currently has approximately 1,293MW DC of solar parks in Japan, of which 11 solar projects with a combined capacity of 930MW are completed and in commercial operations.
Last year, the company commenced construction of 77MW Banshu solar power project located in Ako-gun and Sayo-gun, Japan.
Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation (SESJ) is serving as the EPC contractor for the solar project, which is planned to commence commercial operations in January 2023.
