
Jacobs has been awarded a contract to deliver extensive design services for the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) in the lower Hudson Valley area.
The scope of work encompasses bridge replacements, rehabilitations, and highway reconstruction and rehabilitation initiatives.

As part of this engagement, Jacobs will assist NYSDOT’s Region 8, which includes Westchester, Ulster, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, and Columbia counties.
The firm will focus on addressing safety concerns across the region’s state highway network, which spans nearly 6,000 miles and includes over 1,000 bridges.
Jacobs’ responsibilities will involve traffic data analysis, environmental assessments, and the design of Intelligent Transportation Systems.
These efforts are intended to improve traffic management, alleviate congestion, and enhance the experience for connected vehicles, the company said.

Region 8 contains many historical sites and is near the Hudson River, and includes the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Jacobs is also involved in developing a new Cyber and Engineering Academic Center at the academy, which is scheduled for completion this year.
Recently, Jacobs secured a contract to manage the Pier B rail expansion at the Port of Long Beach, Los Angeles.
The project covers the expansion of the rail yard from 82 to 171 acres and is part of the port’s $2.2bn infrastructure investment.
Jacobs said the expansion will increase on-dock rail capacity to handle up to 4.7 million 20ft shipping containers annually.
Last month, Jacobs was selected as a partner by the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation in India to provide programme management services for 12 industrial corridors over three years.
The contract includes planning, design review, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholder coordination.
