
Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company (NWC) has initiated 38 water and sanitation projects in the country’s Asir region, part of a strategic effort to bolster infrastructure and expand service coverage.
These projects, which include the construction of networks and lines, represent an investment of nearly SR2bn ($532m).
In the Asir region, NWC is implementing 27 water projects that will serve multiple districts and villages, including Abha, Khamis Mushait, An Namas, Ahad Rafidah, and others.
The company plans to lay transmission lines and networks totalling approximately 2,177km and construct 16 water reservoirs with a capacity of 54,500m³.
Pumping stations with a total capacity of over 15,000m³ per day are also part of the development.
Furthermore, NWC has commenced 11 sanitation projects in the region. This includes covering various districts and villages such as Bisha, Balgarn, Al Wadiyan centres, and Al-Qahma, Tanda, and Al Haridah provinces.

A treatment plant with a capacity of 9,300m³ per day and lift stations capable of handling over 106,000m³ per day are included in the sanitation efforts.
NWC emphasised the significance of these projects in strengthening the domestic water distribution system, mitigating environmental damage, and ensuring water security.
The company stated it is focusing on enhancing operational efficiency in the country’s water and sanitation sectors to support the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
