India’s National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has signed an MoU with Japan Railway Track Consultant Co. Limited (JRTC) for High-Speed Rail (HSR) Track works’ designs.

The construction of the track is for the T2 package concerning the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor Project.

The tracks will be laid on the 237 km stretch between Vadodara and Vapi in the Indian state of Gujarat.

JRTC will be responsible for providing comprehensive designs and drawings of key HSR track components such as track slab arrangement, RC track bed and continuous welded rail (CWR) forces.

The virtual event regarding the MoU signing was attended by managing director Achal Khare, director of project Rajendra Prasad, director of rolling stock Vijay Kumar and other senior officers from NHSRCL, along with Embassy of Japan to India Minister Miyamoto, JICA chief representative Katsuo Matsumoto, and JRTC president Horiyama.

NHSRCL MD Achal Khare said: “This signing of MoU marks a very important milestone for MAHSR project. This also symbolises a strong team-work and association which I am sure will not be limited to MAHSR project but may also continue for other future projects in other countries.” He further added that “NHSRCL will extend its full support to make this MoU a success”.

Embassy of Japan to India Minister Shinzo Miyamoto said: “This MoU will strengthen the ties between India and Japan partnership and will also give a boost to ‘Make in India’ initiative. This will also ensure the Transfer of Technology from Japanese High-speed rail system to India.”
