Willmott Dixon has won a £28.5m contract from Northumbria Police Authority to construct a new central police headquarters in Newcastle, UK.

Under the contract, Willmott Dixon will refurbish two existing buildings that will be connected together by a new-build element.

The six-storey Kings House will be converted to provide custody ancillary areas and office space while an adjacent Grade Two warehouse will be updated to house a 50-cell custody suite.

Construction work on the project is scheduled to be completed in 2014.
