Charleston-based developer The Beach Company’s associates have procured 5.93 acres of land at North Main and Stone Avenue for the construction of a $20m mixed-use redevelopment project in Greenville, South Carolina.
The Main + Stone project will involve construction of a 292-unit apartment community with 20,800ft² of additional commercial space, which could be developed into an urban pedestrian epicentre linking three historic Greenville neighbourhoods.
Buildings ranging from two to four-storeys will be built as part of the project, looping around a four-level parking structure at the centre of the land.
The Beach Company development vice-president Dan Doyle said: "Main + Stone will fill a gap between several vibrant neighborhoods at the north end of downtown.
"By adding a first-class combination of residential and commercial properties, we hope to begin the revitalisation of this prime location."
Further, work under the Main + Stone project is expected to begin in the next 45 days, beginning with the demolition of an unoccupied building at the edge of Stone Avenue and Rowley Street, the company added.
