Altair has appointed Dubai-based construction major Shapoorji Pallonji International as the main contractor for the construction of what would turn out to be the South Asia’s tallest residential twin tower in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Work on the Moshe Safdie-designed 68-storey Altair luxury apartment lakefront tower involves the construction of foundations, superstructure and civil works.

Shapoorji Pallonji managing director and CEO M.D.Saini said: “Building a design of Moshe Safdie, the architect responsible for Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, is an exciting challenge and one that our team is eager to grapple with.”
Lanka Business Today reported that Shapoorji Pallonji will also be responsible for managing the finishes for Altair’s diagrid-supported towers, including the 63-storey tower which will tilt into a 240m, 68-storey vertical tower. It is set to be the attraction of South Asia’s first promenade development.
The 400 luxury apartment development will be similar to the Imperial Towers of Mumbai, India, which were also built by Shapoorji Pallonji. The project is anticipated to be completed in 2017.
Altair director Jugal Khetawat said Shapoorji Pallonji is famous for building high-rise structures that redefine concepts of architectural design and push the boundaries of shape.
