Mansell has completed construction of a £10m engineering and science learning centre at the University of Nottingham.

The three-storey centre provides flexible spaces including seminar rooms, a student centre, a computer laboratory, a graduate centre, social space and ancillary accommodation.

The facility, which has been designed to meet BREEAM Excellent standards, incorporates a large central glazed atrium as the focal point of the building.

Sustainable features include thermal mass of exposed concrete frame, a ground-source heat pump, a district heating system, lighting controls and enhanced U values and air tightness.

The concrete frame is made from locally recycled material while an Ethylene TetraFlouro-Ethylene, foil cushion roof system has been used to allow natural light into the building.

Mansell has also secured a contract to refurbish the Coates Building Cafe and the Telford Exhibition area to provide modern catering experiences for students and staff.
