A proposal to build skyscrapers has secured approval from the Manchester City Council’s planning panel.

The plan was submitted by CQ Investments, which is a unit of Renaker Build and designed by architect Ian Simpson. It features four towers, with the smallest at 37 storeys, and the tallest at 64 storeys.
Once these structures are built, they will be taller than Beetham Tower, which has been the tallest building in the Manchester skyline since 2006.
CQ Investments intends to build around 1,500 apartments, 650 car parking spaces, 750 cycle parking spaces and four retail units, as well as leisure facilities such as a swimming pool, a tennis court, and a gym.
In addition, the scheme would feature 117,865ft2 of public amenity space, which will accomodate bars, restaurants, and cafes. It would also feature around 300 one-bed, 1,000 two-bed, and 90 three-bed houses.

By GlobalDataRenaker Build’s head of sales Andy Finch was quoted by Insidermedia.com as saying: "We are thrilled to have received permission for our latest development, which will be the first within the Great Jackson Street framework, creating a new community at the southern gateway to the core of Manchester city centre."
Construction is expected to begin this year and likely to complete by 2020.
