London’s Design Museum is set to open to public after renovation at a new location on Kensington High Street on 24 November.
Architect firm OMA’s Reinier de Graaf collaborated with Allies and Morrison and Arup to redesign the new museum’s exterior, while John Pawson renovated the interior layout.

Design Museum director Deyan Sudjic said: “Reinier de Graaf and the OMA team have created a handsome setting for the Design Museum, and created a set of buildings that gives the museum a context and point of reference.
“They have expertly negotiated the transformation of Robert Matthew Johnson Marshall's project, to John Pawson's creation of the museum.”
The museum features a double-glazed façade with a paraboloid copper-clad concrete roof, which allows natural light, reported Inhabitat.com.
The redesigned interior features two temporary gallery spaces, a free permanent collection display, a restaurant overlooking Holland Park, an auditorium, studios, a library, an archive, and new learning facilities, reported the news agency.

By GlobalDataThe concrete floors were replaced with Italian terrazzo flooring on basement and ground floors, with the upper floors featuring Dinesen oak flooring.
Reinier de Graaf's representative said: “In conceiving a future for one of London’s modernist buildings, we pay tribute to a period that continues to inform contemporary architecture.
“The Design Museum is flanked by the new residential blocks; like discreet servants, their restrained, orthogonal geometries pose a contrast to the dramatic hyperbolic lines of the historic exhibition hall’s roof.”
