UK construction, services and property group Kier has been selected by The Greenland Group to deliver the £170m first phase of its flagship regeneration scheme The Ram Quarter, in Wandsworth.
Kier will collaborate with project manager Gardiner & Theobald, architect EPR and engineer WSP Group to deliver 411,000ft² of new-build housing and retail space over three phases, with a total value of around £600m.

According to Kier, the space will be laid out across nine blocks of between four and ten-storeys.
The project’s initial phase will see the renovation and remodelling of a 56,000ft² Grade II-listed brewery complex and its conversion into restaurants, boutique shops, cafés and bars, with a micro-brewery, brewery museum and an additional 14 residential units. With this, the total number of homes delivered in phase one will be 338.
In this phase, 230m of flood defences along River Wandle will be realigned to open the space and provide public access along a new riverside walk.
As part of the project, Kier will also construct 105,000ft² of basement space for car parking, as well as an energy centre.

Phase one enabling works, which include the river and basement, are expected to begin this month, with completion estimated for early 2017.
