Nintendo Store

American design and architecture firm Gensler has been chosen to design the gaming store in New York’s Rockefeller Plaza for the Japanese video game company Nintendo.

The 10,000ft² Nintendo World store will be undergoing a revamp, when the store will be shut down for a month from 19 January.

It will be reopened as a newly branded Nintendo NY store on 19 February, which is expected to lend it ‘a new look and a new feel’, the firm said.

Gensler will be responsible for the new interior design of the store under the project, which will also include installation of new demo units for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, and a 15ft gaming screen.

"The new Nintendo NY store is a must-see location for anyone … who wants to see what Nintendo has in store for the future."

A large bronze coin will also be set up at the entrance that will display the revamped Nintendo store’s tag line: "Where everyone comes to play."

The existing store expands across two floors and had been operating since 2005. It houses everything related to the Japanese company including its games and gears.
