German engineering company Siemens is looking to form a new group to bid for the $5.1bn London Underground contract for repair and maintenance of the Tube’s sub-surface lines. Originally, Siemens was part of the NewMetro group, which disbanded at the end of 1999 after Taylor Woodrow dropped out and a replacement was unable to be found.
