Länsgården Fastigheter has chosen Swedish construction firm NCC to build a new healthcare block in Örebro, Sweden.

To be built in Skebäck in eastern Örebro, the new block will include a healthcare centre and residential care facility.

Work on the project, worth nearly $37.7m (SEK350m), will be completed in two phases.

The first phase will include construction of a three-storey, 9,000m2 healthcare centre, as well as an underground garage comprising 50 spaces.

The phase two will involve demolition of the existing healthcare centre and construction of a new residential care facility with 100 apartments.

The approximately 10,000m2 building will also include space for home care, day rehabilitation and a courtyard.

NCC stated that the new buildings will be constructed in compliance with Sweden Green Building Council Silver level.

They will have good ventilation, energy efficiency along with sound material choices.

Preparatory work on the project is scheduled to commence this month, with completion of the entire project anticipated in 2025.

The construction company said that the healthcare centre is expected to be relocated to the new building at the end of 2023.

Länsgården CEO Camilla Petersen said: “The new premises for the healthcare centre will be a welcome addition as it will enable us to provide more modern healthcare and meet patient needs.

“The residential care facility will provide an additional 104 places and the proximity to the healthcare centre will create a better quality of life for the elderly residents.

“In cooperation with NCC, and with the well-being of the region’s inhabitants in mind, we can make a place for health and social care in the beautiful district of Skebäck a reality.”
