Muse Developments, a part of construction and regeneration group Morgan Sindall Group, has submitted a planning application to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for Forge Island mixed-use project in Rotherham, UK.

Muse Developments believes that the project is expected to bring increased vibrancy to the heart of Rotherham town centre.

The development plans include a cinema, food and drink outlets, a hotel, and a car park.

It will also feature new leisure facilities within public space and a new pedestrian bridge connecting to the wider town centre.

Muse Developments development director Dan Needham said: “We’re at the next stage on the journey to deliver an innovative and striking scheme in the heart of Rotherham that will benefit the town and the community for years to come.

“Forge Island will be a destination that will bring a family-friendly offer to the town, where people will be able to relax during their free time.

“Our collaboration with Rotherham Council is built on a shared vision, values, with the goal to deliver a truly transformational scheme, and we’re all moving in the same direction to bring that vision to life.”

Construction on the project is set to commence in late 2021 after securing planning approval and exchange of agreements with the main anchor tenants.

In April this year, Muse Developments has submitted plans for the final phase at Ancoats’ Islington Wharf.

When completed, the project will feature 106 one- and two-bedroom apartments over two buildings at 11 and 16 floors, respectively, located on the corner of Great Ancoats Street and Old Mill Street.

The last phase of the project will include 1,750ft² of active ground-floor uses in addition to landscaping, sustainability initiatives, 19 car parking and 106 cycle spaces.
