Mubadala Investment has launched the Al Maryah Waterfront enhancement project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), aimed at improving Al Maryah Island’s leisure and lifestyle facilities.
This initiative includes innovative features such as AI-powered water shows, a spherical seawater installation, and expanded public spaces designed to boost engagement in the area.
One of the key highlights of the development is a 30m-high luminous sphere surrounded by more than 1,000 AI-driven water jets, which will perform choreographed displays. These features are designed by WET, a US-based company credited for creating the Dubai Fountain.
The Al Maryah Waterfront enhancement project also plans to extend the sea boardwalk, providing enhanced access to the waterfront. It will also have shaded cooling systems for comfort during hotter seasons.
New food and beverage zones and event-ready public spaces are expected to further elevate guest experiences.
According to Mubadala, these enhancements are envisioned to provide a range of amenities catering to diverse lifestyle and entertainment needs.

It aligns with Mubadala’s broader objectives of promoting a sustainable and competitive urban landscape in Abu Dhabi.
Mubadala UAE Investments CEO Bakheet Al Katheeri said: “The Al Maryah Waterfront enhancement project is a strategic investment in the future of Al Maryah Island.
“This project will deliver iconic elements that elevate the quality of life and offer a diverse experience for visitors while reinforcing the island’s position as a premier lifestyle destination.”
Al Maryah Island serves as a key business and lifestyle hub in Abu Dhabi. It hosts the Abu Dhabi Global Market, an international financial centre, along with retail outlets, dining options, hospitality services, and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
The island is surrounded by a waterfront promenade that frequently hosts significant events in the city.
In late 2024, Mubadala, in partnership with Aldar Properties, launched construction on the One Maryah Place development on Al Maryah Island.
This project includes two interconnected towers offering office space, a rooftop dining venue, ground-floor retail units, and additional amenities.
