
Contractor Morgan Sindall has broken ground on a £61m school in Abergavenny, the UK.
The new school will replace the current King Henry VIII High School and combine it with the Deri View Primary School.

This plan is aimed at creating a single 1,900 place all-through school to cater to students aged three to 19 years.
Earlier this year, plans for the replacement school were submitted before councillors, reported Construction Enquirer.
First phase of the project will focus on the construction of the main school.
The second phase will see demolition of the current building and creation of a hockey pitch.

By GlobalDataCurrently, groundworks are being undertaken to plateau the hill on which the new school will be constructed.
Besides a 3G football pitch, 2G hockey pitch, the school will have l grass pitches for all sports as well as three-court multi-use games area.
The school is slated to open in 2024.
Morgan Sindall Construction area director Rob Williams was quoted by The Construction Index as saying: “We are firm believers that the spaces in which children learn have a huge impact on their learning and the new all-through school will provide a state-of-the-art building which inspires pupils in a modern learning environment.”
Designed to be net zero in operation, the new school will feature ground mounted solar panels with mains electric back up.
This design also features inclusion of 18 electric vehicle charging points and rainwater harvesting besides storm water retention storage.
Morgan Sindall Construction plans to utilise advanced construction approaches including site metering and artificial intelligence to identify when heaters and other electronic equipment have been left on but not being used.
