UK-based property development firm Quintain has awarded a £130m ($169.7m) contract to McLaren Construction to deliver the fourth development at Wembley Park in the UK.

The contract involves the construction of plots NW09 and NW10, which are made up of three distinct blocks, as part of Quintain’s 85-acre Wembley Park estate.

McLaren Construction said that the contract brings the overall value of work secured at the site to £302m ($394.2m).

The plots will deliver a total of 396 build-to-rent homes, which will be run by Quintain’s rental management platform. It will comprise 1,000m² of ground-floor retail space and 1,200m² allocated for a GP surgery.

The Wembley Park transformation is expected to bring 8,500 homes to the borough, of which a third will be affordable with the majority available for rent.

The NW09/10 development will comprise a range of amenity spaces such as a large private landscaped garden at the heart of the development featuring a children’s play area as well as secure parking spaces for residents.

Quintain construction executive director Matt Voyce said: “We are delighted to have the McLaren team on board to deliver their fourth project at Wembley Park.

“We look forward to continuing the transformation of the 85-acre site by delivering thousands more homes, retail and office space and continuing our strong relationship with McLaren through our construction framework.”

McLaren has already commenced main construction works at plot NW09/10. Works are due to be completed in the summer of 2022.

Earlier, McLaren delivered the 340-apartment residential scheme W03 (named Alameda) and 115,000ft² of Grade A office space at the W06 development along Wembley Park Boulevard in 2019.

The firm is scheduled to complete the 150-apartment residential block of W06 in March 2020.

In 2019, Quintain has secured £172.5m ($225.1m) in financing from Cheyne Capital to fund the next phase of development at Wembley Park.

The funding will be used for the development of the latest block in its Eastern Lands quarter, which will comprise 458 homes. It will also include a multi-storey coach and car park that is being part-funded by Homes England.
