Marquette University, based in Wisconsin, US, has unveiled plans to build a new home for the university’s College of Business Administration and its innovation leadership programmes, with an investment of $70m.

Planned to be built at the corner of 16th Street and Wisconsin Avenue, the new facility will be constructed on the former site of McCormick Hall that was demolished in 2019.

The building will feature a new multi-functional space to provide access to executives and recruiters to meet and interact, as well as wrap-around advising and career guidance, with centres for career development on the ground floor.

Additionally, the building will comprise upgraded signature labs and classrooms, including a pitch stage, which allows business students to share ideas with industry, investors and the larger community.

Marquette University president Michael Lovell said: “Marquette Business has a long history of developing ethical, Jesuit-educated leaders who live and work in Milwaukee and the top financial hubs across the world.

“Through innovative design features and flexible learning spaces, our newest academic facility will help foster creative thinking for students from all disciplines.”

Construction on the project is scheduled to commence in fall 2020.

Additionally, the facility will house interdisciplinary innovation leadership programmes, including the Excellence in Leadership programme, created by Opus College of Engineering Opus dean Dr Kristina Ropella.

Marquette University business administration Keyes dean Joseph Daniels said: “Marquette Business is home to three of the university’s top 10 undergraduate majors, reflecting the growing demand for business leaders in our region.

“Our curriculum is infused with experiential learning opportunities, which is what our students and employers demand. This new facility will mirror our collaborative applied learning style and position us as a convener of important conversations on the future of business in our region.”

The university has already raised more than $44m to fund the project, including 12 gifts over $1m.
