Construction firm Mace has received a contract from Astrea to deliver a new office building at 38 Berkeley Square in London, the UK.

The new office development will be located in the heart of Mayfair, 38 Berkeley Square.

It will deliver approximately 85,000ft2 of office space across a nine-storey building along with 9,000ft2 of retail space on the ground and lower floors as well as more than 7,000ft2 of communal terracing.

The construction company will collaborate with Astrea team to deliver low carbon solutions to achieve BREEAM Outstanding, WELL Platinum and LEED Gold.

Mace Commercial Offices and Residential managing director Ged Simmonds said: “We are delighted to work on the transformation of 38 Berkeley Square, on behalf of Astrea. Our team will support the client’s vision for a destination office space with an innovative sustainability strategy, minimising carbon emissions during demolition and build. Drawing on our experience in creating commercial office buildings in the City and heritage developments, we will deliver a new landmark in the heart of Mayfair.”

Designed by architects Piercy & Company, the new office building is slated to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.

In May this year, Mace and its joint venture (JV) partner Dragados secured a £570m contract to construct HS2’s Birmingham Curzon Street station in the UK.

The new station will feature eco-friendly design and sustainable technologies, as well as operate with zero carbon emissions.

It will collect rainwater and operate on sustainable power generation, with more than 2,800m² of solar panels.
