The construction arm of India-based engineering, construction and technology conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured two significant orders in the Indian states of Odisha and Rajasthan.

L&T classifies ‘significant orders’ to be in the range of $138m-$345m (Rs10bn-Rs25bn).

The Odisha EPC order for L&T Construction is from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department of Odisha to execute individual rural water supply projects in the two districts of Khorda and Kendrapada to set up water and effluent treatment plants.

The scope of the Odisha project includes four water treatment plants with a total capacity of 105 million litres per day, design and construction of intake structures, overhead service reservoirs and booster pumping station, and supplying and laying transmission and distribution pipelines.

The projects will supply drinking water across 780 villages in Kendrapada and Khorda districts, benefiting about 1.22 million people.

On an EPC-turnkey basis, the construction of the intake structure along with a pressure main for the Water Resources Department of Odisha will be along the right bank of Bargarh Main Canal of the Gangadhar Mehar Lift Irrigation Project in Bijepur, Odisha.
