L&T Construction, Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) construction subsidiary, has been awarded contracts for various projects in India, Dubai, Africa and Thailand.

The construction company has classified the orders as ‘significant’, which is worth between INR10bn ($133.5m) and INR25bn ($333.8m).

The company’s Power Transmission & Distribution business unit secured a contract to build a 220kV Transmission Line associated with system strengthening in the Ladakh region in India.

The system’s design and implementation include traversing hilly terrains, avalanche prone as well as ice loading of conductors.

Under the Integrated Power Development Scheme, the business unit has also been awarded a contract for urban power distribution in Ayodhya city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The Power Transmission & Distribution business unit also secured a design, supply, construct, install, test, and commissioning contract for a 132/11kV substation in Dubai.

The scope of work under the contract also includes associated cable works.

L&T stated that the business unit was also awarded two transmission line packages in Africa.

In Thailand, the company’s Power Transmission & Distribution business unit has also secured a contract to supply and construct new Gas Insulated Substation as well as the associated substation extensions.

The company said that the work on the project will help to improve transmission system security and support the growing demand for electricity in the country’s upper northern parts.

L&T’s Buildings & Factories business unit has been awarded a contract to construct a 1.8 MTPA grinding unit in Dolvi, Maharashtra, India.

Under the contract, the business unit will also be responsible for civil, mechanical and equipment installation works.
