L&T Construction, Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) construction subsidiary, has secured a contract from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the first phase of Patna MRTS in India.
The company’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business has been awarded the contract to design and build an underground metro of the first phase.

It classified the order as ‘significant’, which means contract could be worth between INR10bn ($134m) and INR25bn ($335m).
Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) is providing funds for the project.
Under the contract, Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business will be responsible for the design and construction of about 6km-long twin tunnel by shield tunnel boring machine (TBM).
It also involves construction of an underground ramp at Rajendra Nagar and six underground metro stations including Rajendra Nagar, University, Gandhi Maidan, Moin Ul Haq Stadium, PMCH, and Akashvani.

By GlobalDataThe scope of the work also involves other associated structures including architectural finishing, water supply, sanitary installation and drainage work on the new ISBT to Patna station of corridor-2 of first phase of Patna MRTS.
Slated to be completed within 42 months, the project alignment passes through the heart of Patna City.
Upon completion, the project will be operated by the Patna Mass Rapid Transit System.
L&T stated: “Over the years, L&T has significantly enhanced its capability to build faster, and reliable mass transit systems and this project is in line with its strategic goals.”
Last month, L&T Construction’s Buildings & Factories business unit was awarded a contract to build clinical blocks and allied infrastructure for an advanced hospital in Cuttack, Odisha, India.
