Lane, the US subsidiary of the Webuild Group, has opened 11km of newly constructed lanes on Florida’s Turnpike.
The project is delivered 1,020 days ahead of the planned timeline.

The additional capacity is part of an ongoing effort to accommodate the region’s heavy traffic flow, which sees more than 100 million visitors annually.
The new lanes are located between the Minneola Interchange and O’Brien Road in Central Florida.
Alongside these, the project has delivered new access ramps at US 27, targeting congestion reduction during peak travel periods.
Improvements to safety and drainage infrastructure have also been made, addressing resilience needs in an area prone to severe weather conditions.

This latest development on Florida’s Turnpike continues a pattern of early completions by Lane, including recent work on the I-275 Section 7 Phase 1 project in Tampa.
The company stated: “It is refining this capability to serve the needs of major US public institutions, clients, and communities.”
Webuild Group considers its activities in Florida part of a broader portfolio in the US. In addition to the Turnpike widening, current projects include the Seminole Expressway/State Road 417, upgrades at key interchanges between Interstate 4 and Sand Lake Road as well as State Road 535 in Orange County, and construction work on the Westshore Interchange.
Earlier this month, Lane secured a $389m design-build contract from the Virginia Department of Transportation for modernising approximately seven miles of Interstate 64 in Norfolk, Virginia.
Webuild Group’s ongoing American projects also extend to North Carolina’s I-85 and improvements at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia.
