Kraus-Anderson (KA) Construction Company has commenced construction on the new $38m Fairview Education Center in the US state of Minnesota.

Located at 1910 County Road B West in Roseville, the 108,000ft² education centre comprises a new pool and basketball court, multiple classrooms, kitchen with two dining rooms, locker rooms and offices.

The firm said that a playground will also be built on the west side of the building along with a bus drop-off at the front side of the building.

Fairview Education Center, which is designed by Lawal Scott Erickson Architects, will feature two buildings that will be demolished after the construction of the new two-storey structural steel building.

Slated to be completed in late summer of 2021, the project has an architectural precast exterior façade with metal panels and a steel structure with composite structural concrete floors.

The firm said that after demolishing the existing buildings a new parking lot will be constructed in its place.

KA has completed more than $1bn in K-12 projects over the past five years. Its comprehensive school construction services include facility analysis and budget approaches, leading to informed and successful referendum initiatives.

Kraus-Anderson, in a statement, said: “Fairview Education Center is one of the dozens of major K-12 construction projects Kraus-Anderson will work on this year during its “Summer Slam,” a critical, concentrated time during the summer months when school is not in session and when crews can perform work that ranges from new school construction to upgrades to deferred maintenance projects.”

The company has implemented stringent social distancing and other elevated safety protocol on construction job sites to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic.
