Construction and infrastructure services provider Kier has been appointed for the £7bn Department for Education (DfE) 2021 Construction framework.
The four-year deal will involve construction of all types of education buildings including schools, universities as well as further education and technical colleges in England.

The company has secured place on two lots of the high value band for projects worth more than £12m in North and South.
It has also been selected for 12 lots of the low value band for projects worth between £0.5m and £6m in North East; Yorkshire and the Humber; North West; East Midlands; West Midlands; East of England A and East of England B.
Kier has also secured projects in London; South East of England A; South East of England B; South West of England A; and South West of England B.
The company noted that it will focus on embedding the themes of the Construction Playbook for all the projects to be delivered through the framework.

Since the first Academies Framework in 2007, the latest contract marks Kier’s fifth time to secure a place on the DfE’s national framework.
Kier delivered more than 160 national framework projects worth more than £2bn during that time.

In a separate development, Willmott Dixon has also been reappointed to the DfE 2021 Construction framework.
Under the framework, the company has been appointed to Lots 1, 2, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 21.
