Kier Property, the development arm of Kier Group, has secured planning approval for its next residential development at Watford Riverwell in the UK.

The new project will bring 192 new houses that include 142 family houses, of mixed types comprising two-, three- and four-bed houses along with three-bed maisonettes.

The development also includes 50, one- and two-bed apartments to be built above a new community centre to serve Riverwell and the surrounding area.

Kier said that the apartments and maisonettes will be situated to disguise the planned new 1,450 space multi-storey car parking that secured approval last year to serve Watford General Hospital.

The project will deliver 35% of affordable housing, with social and affordable tenures that are located in the terraced housing.

Construction on the project is expected to commence in early next year, after five months of enabling works and site preparation.

Kier Property regeneration managing director Andrew Storey said: “We are pleased that the next stage of the Riverwell scheme has secured planning consent.

“This means we can make arrangements at the right time to make a start on the groundworks, ahead of starting to build the new family homes early next year thereby continuing the development of the Riverwell Masterplan.”

In June last year, Kier Property and CTP have submitted a planning application for the £200m Pall Mall development in Liverpool’s commercial district in the UK.

The project’s masterplan includes 400,000ft² of new Grade A office space, a 280-bedroom hotel, associated retail and leisure amenities along with a new landscaped green space and public realm.
