UAE-based Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) Group and manufacturer Al Jazeera Steel Products have together broken ground on a rolling mill in Abu Dhabi.

Construction of the mill with rail manufacturing capabilities will take place on a 210,000m² area within KEZAD. It intends to lead technical advances, improve steel manufacturing capacities, and contribute to the rising demand for steel products in the area.

Al Jazeera Steel Products will invest Dh250m ($68m) in this project.

Primary technology provider POMINI LRM will provide the medium-sized mill that has a 450,000tpa production capacity.

As the area commences on plans to construct a rail network that will connect the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait, there will be an increased demand for railway steel parts, which the mill expects to meet.

The manufacturing unit will also address the expanding demand for its other goods using KEZAD’s and Abu Dhabi’s well-established infrastructure and connections.
