Brownfield developer Inland Homes has signed an agreement with Homes England, a UK Government body charged with housing delivery, for a £200m development in Basildon, Essex.

As per the terms of the deal, Inland Homes will develop more than 600 homes, as well as employment and community facilities on a site currently owned by Homes England. The development also includes a new school in Basildon.

Inland Homes said it has paid an initial £100,000 on signing the agreement for the project, which is subject to planning permission. A draft planning allocation for the scheme is already in place.

Under the agreement, Inland Homes will acquire 54 acres of land in phases from Homes England.

Inland Homes CEO Stephen Wicks said: “This is an example of the tenacity of the Inland team in structuring complex transactions and delivering housing supply.

“The project involves the re-location of a number of sporting facilities to new locations within Basildon as well as major infrastructure works.

“We look forward to working alongside Homes England and submitting an early planning application for the comprehensive redevelopment of this important site.”

Last year, Inland Homes secured final planning sign off for its £350m Wilton Park development on a 100-acre site in Buckinghamshire, South East England.

The Wilton Park housing project, located close to Junction 2 of the M40 and Beaconsfield and Seer Green Stations, involves the construction of 350 homes as well as commercial and community space within a parkland setting on the site.

The housing project is expected to give easy access to London Marylebone.
