US-based real estate firm Hines has begun construction on logistics centre in Hamm-Uentrop, Germany.

Hines stated that the location of the project is well-connected to the motorways and, via an access point in Dortmund, to the European rail network for combined freight transport.

The 1,200,000ft2 DistributionPark logistics centre will include modern logistics space along with high-quality office and social facilities.

Hines has also announced the long-term lease to Arvato Supply Chain Solutions in the first phase of the construction.

Arvato will be responsible for managing overall logistics and fulfilment of the beauty platform Douglas in the DACH region and the Netherlands.

Ground was broken on a distribution centre covering an area more than 400,000ft2 and construction on the facility is scheduled to complete in the fourth quarter of next year.

Hines Immobilien is serving as the development manager for the project.

Hines Immobilien managing director Christian Meister said: “We are very pleased to lease the complete first construction phase to Arvato Supply Chain Solutions. Together we will build a state-of-the-art logistics centre that will set standards in the industry in terms of sustainability and automation.”

“At the same time, we are holding confident talks with tenants for the second construction phase. The flexible floor plans offer the possibility of renting logistics space from 96,000 square feet upwards.”

The logistics centre will be incorporated into the surroundings to meet Hines’ high sustainability criteria. It is also aimed at achieving DGNB certification.

Colliers and BNP Paribas advised on the leasing.
