Hines has announced the launch of 600 Collins, a new $710.14m (A$1bn) office tower located in the heart of Melbourne’s central business district (CBD) in Australia.

The project is said to have been acquired and designed during the Covid pandemic.

Designed by WilkinsonEyre and Architectus, 600 Collins focuses on sustainability, amenity, wellness, and experience. It will be 180m tall and will exhibit a curved façade.

The site has over 70m of prime frontage on Collins Street.

Overall, 600 Collins will feature 60,000m2 of office space, amenity provisions, including casual and formal food and beverage offerings and podium terraces.

It will also have experiential end-of-trip facilities including a hotel-style reception lounge, showers, lockers, wellness centres, collaborative work zones, bike parking and green spaces.

The location can easily accessible with tram super stops on both Collins and Spencer Street. It is also situated near the Southern Cross Station benefitting the regional workforces of Geelong, Bendigo, and Ballarat.

600 Collins will be the first wholly electric building in Australia planned under the new Green Star Buildings tool, which rates the energy efficiency of buildings.

By 2040, Hines intends to become carbon neutral throughout its global portfolio.

Hines managing director Simon Nasa said: “When Hines acquired 600 Collins Street in the height of the Covid pandemic, we had the opportunity to define how the office could bring together the best elements of how people live, work, and play while outperforming the market in sustainability.

“600 Collins will be a destination shaped by experience, amenities, and our tenants partnering with us to create spaces that attract and retain the best talent. 600 Collins is setting the standard for how developments in Australia can be both environmentally responsible and cutting edge.”
