Dutch construction company Heijmans along with its partners has won a contract to build 735 new student residences on the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) campus in the Netherlands.
The partners include housing corporation Stichting Woonbedrijf SWS.Hhvl and VenhoevenCS architecure+urbanism.
Under the contract, Heijmans along with its partners will also manage the new student homes.
The project involves the construction of two residential tower blocks with 653 student homes and the space between the blocks will be used to house the (low-rise) social heart of the project.
It will include 82 student homes, a shop, a creative space and spaces to be filled in consultation with students.
The project forms part of TU/e’s campus vision and is expected to be a vibrant community for Dutch and international students in green surroundings with a high level of living comfort.

By GlobalDataHeijmans’ part of the project is worth approximately €60m.
Vestide, the student accommodation division of Woonbedrijf housing, will be responsible for the rental and management of the residences for 50 years.
The construction company said that the first partial delivery of the project is planned for the start of the 2023-24 academic year.
Furthermore, the companies have planned to develop the project plans in more detail using the inputs from TU/e students in the coming months.
In June last year, Heijmans was selected by the Rotterdam city council for the construction of the Leeuwenkuil op Zuid project with 226 new homes.
To be located on the south-western side of the Laan op Zuid, the project is part of the Parkstad plan and was expected to be worth around €70m.
