Heijmans, a Dutch construction company, has been Rotterdam city council for the construction of the Leeuwenkuil op Zuid project with 226 new homes.
Expected to begin construction in late next year or early 2022, the project with 226 new homes is part of the Parkstad plan and is expected to be worth around €70m.

To be located on the south-western side of the Laan op Zuid, the project is part of the Parkstad plan, which will act as a link between Kop van Zuid and the Afrikaander neighbourhood.
Over the past few years, the neighbourhood has transformed and it now offers an increasingly differentiated range of homes. The project will add 76 new rental homes in the mid-rental segment.
The Leeuwenkuil Project will be a green project, with a focus on water, nature and attractive connecting areas such as courtyards and walking routes that will stimulate meetings between residents and visitors.

Heijmans claims that Rotterdam city council had unanimously selected it as the best candidate for the project. Previously, the company developed and built several projects in the city including the Timmerhuis, Fenix 1 on the Katendrecht peninsular and various buildings in the Hart van Zuid project.

Besides Heijmans, the winning team includes ROFFAA, XML Architecture, Flux landscape architecture and Arcadis.
Last month, the company was selected by housing corporation Woonbedrijf as a partner for the Humperdincklaan area development plan in the city of Eindhoven.
The project includes the development of nearly 500 rental and owner-occupied homes, valued at over €100m.
The project is expected to provide a stimulus to the Gestel district by creating affordable housing for a range of target groups. Woonbedrijf and Heijmans will jointly work on project planning in the coming months.
