Hackney Council has selected construction company Ardmore as the principal contractor for the final phase of its Britannia project.

Britannia is a new residential-led regeneration project close to Shoreditch Park in Hackney, London, UK.

The estimated value of this design and build contract is approximately £154m.

Ardmore will construct 371 mixed-tenure apartments in four new residential structures measuring up to 25 storeys as part of the project.

The development will comprise 81 affordable houses for social rent and shared ownership alongside 290 private for-sale residences, as well as a new leisure facility and a 1,100-pupil secondary school that has already been built.

The residences will include shared landscaped gardens and roof terraces, retail and commercial space, and bike storage. In addition, it will be situated close to the new Britannia Leisure Centre sports facility and the City of London Academy Shoreditch Park secondary school.

The completion of the project will build on Ardmore’s portfolio, including the 1,000-unit multiphase Parkside plan completed in Lewisham, and the 387-unit Phase 4a of Battersea Power Station.

Ardmore director James Byrne said: “Over the last few months, we’re already managed to build a strong working relationship with Hackney [Council] and their design team to help bring the buildings in line with the highest safety standards, without any compromise in quality.

“We are looking forward to working with Hackney Council and to build on our impressive track record of major residential and regeneration schemes in London.”
