Fort Worth-based salsa maker Renfro Foods has broken ground on its new shipping warehouse in Texas, the US.

The makers of Mrs. Renfro’s salsa held the ceremony on 15 March beside its headquarters and current facilities on Stella Street in Fort Worth.

Renfro Foods is a third-generation family business, which is into manufacturing salsas, peppers, sauces and relishes.

Renfro’s top management was joined by representatives from other Fort Worth companies selected for the project, such as architect Huitt-Zollars, and contractor JA Jackson Construction, to participate in the company’s celebrations.

The food-making firm’s latest project is located just a couple of minutes from downtown in east Fort Worth. The last time Renfro Foods had expanded on its site was in 2006.

First established in 1940 as a pepper sauce and packaged spices business, the Renfro family continued to expand the brand and make it the multimillion-dollar business of today.

Renfro’s upcoming shipping warehouse is the result of many years of planning. Once it takes shape, it will nearly double the present shipping warehouse with an additional space of 10,500 ft2.

The warehouse will be used for the storage of supplies, ingredients, and finished goods, which is necessary because of the growing demand for salsa.

The construction of a phase two project later will add offices and rooms for the employees.

Renfro Foods president Doug Renfro said: “Our company has been on this same site since very early on, and we love its proximity to so much that our city offers. When it came to thinking about our growth needs, it was an easy decision to stay in this neighbourhood rather than move to a more industrial site. We are committed to growing our footprint with care and helping the east side to thrive.”

Renfro Foods’ award-winning salsa line, Mrs. Renfro’s, has over 30 products sitting on the shelves of supermarkets, gourmet food stores and gift shops not just across the US but throughout the world.

In 2018, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce selected Renfro Foods as a finalist for the Dream Big Small Business of the Year Award.
