
Real estate company Greystar and White Point have broken ground on Ascent South End, a new residential project in Charlotte, North Carolina, US.
The new 24-storey building will include 324 apartment homes, nearly 15,000ft2 of retail space on the ground-floor along with more than 20,00ft2 of amenity space.
It will feature floor plans ranging from microunits to three-bedrooms along with two- and three-bedroom penthouses.
Greystar Development senior director Josh Glover said: “We’re excited start construction on Greystar’s second high-rise residential project in Charlotte, and the first institutionally-sized residential high-rise in the South End.”
The apartment homes at Ascent South End will include elevated appliance, fixture packages, custom closets, and functional kitchens.
Slated to open in early 2024, Ascent South End will focus on reducing on-site waste and indoor environmental quality by utilising lighting control strategies, smart thermostats, and safe materials.

Greystar stated that the new development will be situated beside WP’s planned office tower and adjacent to Dilworth Artisan Station, which is a three-story re-use property.
White Point principal Justin Trowbridge said: “Ascent South End will bring highly sought after residential and retail space to South End, nicely complement our adjacent office tower development and Dilworth Artisan Station and will solidify this block as the premier live-work-play destination in Charlotte’s hottest area.”
Furthermore, Greystar is working on many other developments in Charlotte, including Prosperity Village, Indian Trail, Lower South End, Album Huntersville along with a two-phase project in University City.
