GMI has gained permission from developer Alumno to commence site works on a 411-bed student scheme in Leeds, the UK.
The £30m Whitelock Street project is designed by Durham-based architect, Howarth Litchfield.

Featuring a single long six and seven-storey stepped block, the scheme will have a gross internal area of around 127,000ft2.
The brick enveloped building will feature 53 studios and a range of four-to-eight-bedroom cluster flats.
A flexible gallery, studio space for local artists, a kiln and exhibition area will feature at ground floor.
The current Diamond House and Britannia House buildings on site have already been demolished to enable foundations work to start immediately.

By GlobalDataAlumno managing director David Campbell noted that Whitelock Street development will be a great addition to the Sheepscar district besides providing huge regeneration advantages.
In November 2020, Alumno secured permission for the project plan from Leeds City Council.
