Construction engineering firm GMI Construction has secured a contract from The Symphony Group for the development of a production warehouse facility at its headquarters in Barnsley, the UK.

The 332,626ft2 facility will include enhanced FM1 floor slabs. It will be built beside Symphony’s existing production plant and have a harmonious design that looks same as the existing building.

Designed by architect Garnett Netherwood, the production warehouse will provide increased storage and production capacity along with space for key equipment to enable the company to meet its growth plans.

Construction work on the facility is estimated to take nearly 38 weeks and is expected to be fully operational later the same year.

GMI divisional managing director Lee Powell said: “We are very pleased to have been instructed by Symphony Group to construct this important new production plant and warehouse to enable their next phase of expansion.

“GMI is well known for its work and credentials in the production and warehouse sector and we look forward to working with Symphony and the full project team to deliver this building on time/budget.”
