Fluor and its joint venture (JV) partner Austin Bridge & Road have been appointed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the second phase of Interstate 35E (I-35E) expansion project in Dallas, Texas, the US.

The scope of work under the contract involves design, construction and maintenance of second phase of the I-35E project from I-635 in Dallas to the Denton County line in Carrollton, Texas.

Fluor stated that its share of contract is worth about $640m.

The 6.3-mile design-build project involves complete reconstruction and expansion of six existing general-purpose lanes to eight general-purpose lanes along with new auxiliary lanes at entrance and exit ramps.

It will also include reconstruction of frontage roads along the corridor as well as two existing, grandfathered reversible tolled managed lanes.

Construction work of the project is planned to commence late this year and is expected to be completed in late 2025.

Recently, the company and its JV partner Balfour Beatty commenced construction on Oak Hill Parkway Infrastructure Project in Austin, Texas.

The design-build project involves reconstruction and widening of U.S. 290 from the east end of Circle Drive to Loop 1 and State Highway 71 to Silvermine Drive in Travis County, west of downtown Austin.
