Ferrovial’s US construction subsidiary Webber has secured a $70m contract from the Texas Department of Transportation for the expansion and rehabilitation of FM 1960 road project in Houston, US.

Under the contract, Webber will be responsible for the widening of FM 1960 project, a main arterial road, from four to six lanes, with a total project length of 4.57km.

It will include the construction of approximately 170,000 square yards of concrete pavement and 165,000ft2 of the bridge deck as well as a 2.59 million pounds of steel tub girders.

The scope of the contract will also involve the construction of a four-lane main lane overpass bridge over West Lake Houston Parkway. Work on the project is expected to be completed in late 2023.

In July this year, Webber has been awarded a contract worth $115m to upgrade IH 35 in Laredo, Texas.

The contract will involve the construction of around 2.4km of the new direct connector and main lane bridges, the addition of a main lane travel lanes to IH 35 in each direction as well as the construction of more than 400,000ft2 of the bridge deck. It will also include the installation of over 12 million pounds of steel girders.

In June this year, Webber secured a $301m contract to reconstruct nearly 12km of the SL 12 highway in Dallas, US.

The work on the contract will include the reconstruction of existing Interchanges between State Loop 12, State Spur 482, State Highway 114 and 183.

It will also involve the construction of 32 new bridges, widening of existing main lanes and additional works like grading, signals and illumination of the highway.
