CS Energy has commenced construction on 216MWdc utility-scale solar power projects across New York, the US.

The company is developing the projects in partnership with the Goldman Sachs Renewable Power Group (GSRP) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

The portfolio includes 27MW Darby solar project, 27MW Branscomb project, 27MW Stillwater project, 27MW Grissom project, 27MW Regan project, 27MW Pattersonville project, 27MW Janis project, and 27MW Puckett project.

These projects are expected to commence operations by the end of this year, thereby becoming the first operational utility-scale solar projects in upstate New York.

The eight solar power projects have secured contracts from NYSERDA under its renewable energy standard request for proposals in 2017 and 2018.

In 2016, New York committed to obtain 70% of its electricity consumed from renewable energy sources by 2030.

NYSERDA president and CEO Doreen M Harris said: “The commencement of construction of this utility-scale solar portfolio is a major milestone for NYSERDA’s Large-Scale Renewables Program and represents the significant progress we are making together to get the state’s pipeline of projects built in 2021.

“Our nation-leading Clean Energy Standard will have a lasting impact on communities across our state, and we appreciate the work that CS Energy and Goldman Sachs Renewable Power Group are doing to help us achieve our ambitious, yet achievable, clean energy goals.”

CS Energy partnered with GSRP to provide the funding as well as asset management services needed to build, own and operate the projects.
